I’ve been using the latest Dorico versions on both iPad and Mac, and when I export as MusicXML and try to open said XML in a different program (SmartMusic, specifically), the program doesn’t recognize it as a MusicXML file (I’ve triple checked, it IS saved as a MusicXML file). This has happened quite a few times with quite a few different files and different programs. Thanks for the help.
any program I’ve tried a Dorico MusicXML export with has worked, although of course there can be individual issues with specific features. Fwiw, ChatGPT suggests trying the following-- would be interesting to see if that helps. Of course if there’s anyone else here who actually uses SmartMusic, they’ll be in a much better position to help.
- Export as uncompressed
.musicxmlinstead of.mxl - In the export dialog:
- Disable “Export layout options”
- Export only the needed flow
- Simplify tuplets if possible
- Make sure every bar adds up mathematically
- Remove empty staves before export
