My MIDI keyboard only responds to main channel 1 (1/2

Hi, I have Cubase set up with Vienna Ensemble Player with Synchron Player violin on Channel 1 (1/2), Synchron cello on Channel 2 (3/4) and Vienna Instruments Pro flute on channel 3 (5/6). I’m pretty sure I have all the right settings in Cubase. I have each instrument on a separate track, each set to the corresponding channel. The virtual keyboard in the software works on all the instruments, but my physical MIDI keyboard will only work for the instrument on channel 1. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Of course, you need to configure the keyboard to send on other MIDI channels.

I think I have the keyboard configured. I’m using Vienna Ensemble Pro and as long as I use the old Vienna Instruments Pro, I can send from my Keystation 49 on any channel, but with the newer Synchron Player, it only sends on channel 1. Both Vienna Instruments Pro and Synchron Player are embedded in Vienna Ensemble and controlled by it.

TBH, you need to configure your keyboard, not the software. The software isn’t sending something MIDI. It receives it.
As far as I remember, the keyboards send on channel 1 only by default.

Hi,

Make sure the MIDI Input Channel is set to Any or 1. Since Cubase 13, there is no only MIDI Output Channel, but there is also the MIDI Input Channel.

Thanks Everybody,
I got it working – turns out I didn’t have Cubase set up correctly in the Inspector where you choose the output channel for Vienna Ensemble Pro. I couldn’t see the channel numbers because they were cut off by the frame of the dialog box. Oops – It’s been a while since I did this. All is well now.
