Hello, Dorico Folks,
Can you help me with this problem in Dorico 6?
As soon as I plug in my MIDI keyboard I hear a sound like symnthesizer notes with infinite sustain.
When I close the project and turn it on again with no keyboard this stops it.
But I’d like to be able to use my MIDI keyboard to learn to enter notes in real time.
How can I fix this? I attach a copy of my project document.

I’m no expert, but that sounds like a MIDI feedback loop
songcycles:
How can I fix this?
No idea yet, but what I did see that I’ve never seen before is an empty channel strip with the tool tip (MIDI).
I wonder what that is?
Thanks for your post, Mr. DerAbgang,
Should I delete this channel? What does one do typically to stop a MIDI feedback loop?
Awaiting your reply,
Sincerely,
Benjamín
Thanks for your post. Janus. How does one typically fix a MIDI loop? I’m still a beginner with Dorico Pro 6.
Awaiting your reply,
Sincerely,
Ben
The first thing I’d do is to go into Settings under Play → MIDI Input Devices and make sure only your MIDI keyboard is activated for input. Next, re-apply the playback template (Play → Playback Template…)

The usual practice is to plug in your MIDI keyboard before starting Dorico. That should help to avoid the MIDI feedback loop as well, because Dorico doesn’t have to recognize and map the MIDI channel for the hot-plugged keyboard on the fly.
Dear Hannuala,
Thanks very much for your advice.
That definitely worked. I shut down Dorico completely, and then plugged in my AKAI mini-play.
When my “Héroes y Heroínas” project opened up, the keyboard was sounding perfectly normally.
Before I performed this fix, the project sounded like the Overture to the Wagner opera, Das Rheingold, if it would be frozen eternally on one note.
I let the other people know, who posted me, that your fix worked right away.
Sincerely,
–Ben

Hi, Mr. Santamauro,
Mr. Hannual’s fix worked. He said I should plug in the keyboard before turning on Dorico.
Now I will go back to working my way through the tutorial on real time MIDI input.
Thanks so much for your post.
Sincerely,
–Ben

Hi, Mr. Janus,
OK, please clarify for me what I can put in my email signature when I reply to a post in the Dorico Forum.
Just my Dorico User Name? or what?
I will be happy to follow the standard policies of the Forum in the future.
Sincerely,
–Ben

If you are using email to post on the forum, just don’t include your signature (it is unnecessary).
This is to protect your personal data from being harvested by bots and nothing to do with forum policies.
