My saved presets won't show up in load preset menu

I’ve saved a bunch of presets for my favorite plugins such as OTT. When I go to load a preset, they don’t show up. It’s strange, because when I go to save a preset, all of my saved presets show up (first screenshot), but I can’t load any saved presets (2nd screenshot). Any advise?

I’ve just found the same thing. Using Cubase 14.
Was there ever a fix for this or a work round ?

With the caveat that this doesn’t always work…

Try opening the Window Settings via the cog button (top right of the Load/Save dialogue), check the Filters and Location boxes. On the top left you should see some folders - un-check them, and select Remove on the message that pops up. Then re-check those same folders. This makes Cubase refresh the presets.

As I say, doesn’t always work.

Didn’t work. I can see them in the big media bay and I can see them with Windows explorer. But, i can’t find a way to load them in the plugin, this has cost me hours.
The annoying thing is Steinberg haven’t fixed something that been wrong with Cubase for years

For the record, what specific C14 version are you using, and what is your Media Bay version?

Are you referring to VST, VST instruments, or both?

Will this issue manifest itself with any plug-in developer that you can tell, or is it limited to particular decelopers? Have you experienced it with Steinberg presets, 3rd party, or both developers?

And to verify, you are simply creating and saving a preset. You are not saving the preset in a newly created or prior created preset folder?

I have noted a random issue when the user creates a folder, then double clicks on the folder to save the preset inside the folder, however instead, it saves the preset outside the folder. The work-around is once the folder is created, close the Save Preset box, re-open the Save preset dialog, and then double click that newly- created folder and the preset should save inside the folder.

I thought the basic Save Preset and it randomly not saving had been fixed.

If they show up in Media Bay, and they wont load using open preset, its important to confirm you are not using what appears to be the same plug, but actually because of updates over time, the plug developer used a different plug-in ID even though its the identical name. Sonic Academy has done this resulting in confusion of Kick 2 over several years.

For example you used Kick2 3 years ago in a project, then in the past 3 years updated Kick2 and now opened that old project you may discover issues. There may or may not be a name change with Kick2.

Probability redundant but trying to eliminate possible issues.

Sorry I had to go out I’ll try and look at this. If i go to the main media bay page where is the open preset ?

I’ve had a couple of plugins where this has occurred. My solution was to use a HEX editor and manually change the IDs (which live in the first few bytes of the file) of the old presets to the new. Requires a jug of strong coffee!

My apologies for not making the following clear.

this part has nothing to do with Media Bay. I’m referring to anytime you want to save or load a VST preset from that open VST gui.

Unless you have had issues with saving a preset inside a folder, disregard.

Thanks.
I’ve reinstalled the plugin and now when i open a project I get a message saying the plugin can’t be found. Is there a way of finding out where it should be ?

Seems this thread stalled without resolution but I image all is well.

I ran into the same problem bringing up Cubase 14 just today. The solution that someone suggested worked for me.

Specifically:

  1. From the VST GUI, click on Load Preset…
  2. Click on the Setup Window Layout and make sure every thing is checked including Location Tree.
  3. In the Location Tree, deselect the listed folders and Remove From Database.
  4. Retry (Load Preset…) and select the listed folders (the ones that were removed still show up) and the presets should display in the Results window.

This method to refresh the database worked for me.

VST Presets are stored under Documents\VST3 Presets\ for Windows Cubase 14 users.

Presets themselves should be installed under Program Files\Common Files\VST3.

It is important to understand that Presets in this context refer only to ones saved via Cubase, not to presets that are internal to the VST itself. You will go mad if you don’t understand this concept.

Before you did the above, did you focus on the particular folder in Media Bay and do a re-scan?

Yes, what you wrote is a known issue. Sometimes just unchecking, then re-checking solves the problem.

What I wrote above in July is another issue. It’s about creating a preset folder, and then attempting to save a preset in that folder.

No I didn’t attempt to view MediaBay. I’m just coming up to speed with Cubase and found this thread which helped me resolve this issue. So I just wrote back to help reinforce want I learned. It was frustrating because I was able to Save into the folder but Load showed no results.

Thanks!
