N14 performance is worse than N13

Working on a music project at the moment. N14 performance randomly starts spiking when changing plugins. Once it spikes it starts getting worse. Restarting the project works until I start changing plugins. The audio engine seems jittery here.

The exact same project runs perfectly in N13. No performance spiking when changing the same plugins. Runs constantly at around 35%.

N13 running a buffer of 128 on my RME UFX+, as I have for the last long while, even on 200 + track counts. No problems.

Intel i9-14900F / 96 gigs of RAM

PS - I really love this update, but for now I’ll revert to N13 until there’s an update.

i experienced some similar things, but only when i open a N13 project in N14 - if i start in N!4, it seems very fine… was your project created with N13?

Yes, it was. That’s an interesting discovery. I’ll take a look over the next few days.

Yes problem exist.
My machine is quite powerful:
Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 9950x3D, 64GB, RTX 4900, RME UFXIII

My projects with N13 play well at 30% CPU usage during playback
or recording.
The same project on the N14 uses 40% of the CPU during playback and

LOW FPS during recording is visible. Additionally, there are many drop-outs during recording.

Cannot work on N14. I am considering refund. This is not what I was expecting.

indeed it’s bad than N13 .. it cannot even import dorico file properly :frowning:

There is no fix. No hope.

I have 2 fps during recording and notorious drop-uts.

I switched back to Nuendo 13.

I asked for refund.

I have to admit I tried loading a large project from N13 to N14 and there was a big hit in performance as well. I was hoping this was an account of not starting the project in N14 from scratch. Also powerful computer on my end as well. I will know more as I start to do that more etc. So far running them from scratch seem fine, but mostly short form stuff so far on my end.

Hi all,
thank you for the feedback! The next maintenance update is in the making and
will be released in the next 2 weeks and will contain performance related fixes.

Thanks,
Timo
