Hi everyone,
Following a recent conversation with Markus Hartmann, I would like to formally bring the request for native Griffschrift support for the Steirische Harmonika to the forum.
While Dorico is industry-leading in many areas, accordion and especially “Griffschrift” (tablature-style notation on five lines) still require many manual workarounds (custom noteheads, manual push/pull symbols, and complex transposition setups).
Key features needed for a professional workflow:
-
Specific Noteheads: Easy toggling for the cross-style noteheads used for the inner rows.
-
Push/Pull (Druck/Zug) Indicators: Native, smart symbols that align with the measures.
-
Mapping Engine: A way to input pitches and have Dorico translate them into the correct “Griffschrift” positions automatically, similar to the existing guitar tab logic.
There is a large and growing community of players in the Alpine regions who would love to switch to Dorico if these specific notation standards were supported natively.
Looking forward to hearing the community’s and the team’s thoughts!
