Hello Steinberg Team,
I’d like to request native import support for .qta files created by the Voice Memos app on iPhone and iPad.
Currently, Cubase cannot import .qta files at all.
These files are QuickTime-based and usually contain multiple audio streams:
-
An AAC stereo stream (lower quality)
-
A high-quality 4-channel APAC (Apple Positional Audio Codec) stream
We would greatly prefer that Cubase imports the high-quality APAC stream by default (or at least offers the option to choose it), rather than only the compressed AAC version.
Because there is no native support, many users (including myself) are forced to run manual ffmpeg conversion scripts just to bring Voice Memos recordings into Cubase.
With the increasing popularity of Voice Memos, adding proper native support for .qta files — especially with access to the high-quality APAC stream — would be a very valuable feature for many Cubase users.
Thank you for considering this request!
