In previous versions of Cubase if you forgot to turn your controller USB keyboard on before launching Cubase you had exit Cubase and re-launch it in order for the USB controller keyboard to be detected.

In 9 this is no more. You can power up your keyboard at any time even after Cubase is launched. Just as you can in Reason 9.
