My old computer has broken down and I want to install Cubase (Essential 5) on my new one, but for that I need a new activation code.
Does anyone who I should contact? I wrote to Steinberg Support for two days ago, but I haven’t heard from them yet. I don’t even know if it’s them I should contact.
Does anyone know who i should contact? I cheked out the thread and I didn,t get my answer.
This is what is says when i tried my old activaton code: “The activation code has been used already. Bla, bla, bla. Please contact your software vendor to get av valid activation code”.
My software vendor? Why don,t they just write the adress that you should write to?
Btw, when I try to reactive it says:
“There is no Soft-eLicenser to reactivate”
And…
“Licenses that have been permanently stored on an USB-eLicenser cannot and don’t need to be reactivated”
How do I know if it is permanently stored?
My USB-elicenser is registred and also my product, but my product is not registred on my Soft-eLicenser. Where does that leave me?
Hope anyone can tell what I should do to be up and running again.
How can I request a new activation code resp. what is the procedure for a reactivation?
Reactivating a license consists of two steps:
Requesting a new activation code via your MySteinberg account.
Using the new activation code in the eLicenser Control Center on your computer in order to download a new license.
These are the necessary steps in detail:
Log in to your MySteinberg account.
If you do not have an account yet, please visit the page to create one.
Click on"Reactivate"
In case the product has never been registered before and you cannot select a Soft-eLicenser, please first register it using the “Register eLicenser / software & Enter Download Access Code” option and use the old activation code to register. Then continue with this guide.
Click on “Reactivate” again
Select the Soft-eLicenser you intend to reactivate
Enter the new Soft-eLicenser number that has been created on your new system. The number is displayed by the eLicenser Control Center which can be found in the “Program Files” (Windows) or “Applications” (Mac) folder on your computer.
Click on “Reactivate”.
The new activation code will be displayed and also be sent to you by email.
Click on the green “Enter Activation Code” button in the eLicenser Control Center to enter or paste your code.
Click on “Continue” and then on “Download License”.
Thanks both of you. I now have a Soft-elicencer. But still no code.
I tried to do what jaslan wrote, but now it says: “Currently, there is no valid Steinberg product license found on this eLicenser” How do I add a product to the elicenser? Like I wrote, I have registred it, just not to the elicenser.
Btw, I didn,t get this, jaslan, “Enter the new Soft-eLicenser number that has been created on your new system. The number is displayed by the eLicenser Control Center which can be found in the “Program Files” (Windows) or “Applications” (Mac) folder on your computer”
It seems so easy the way you describe it, but I don,t see a folder?
Open the eLicenser Control Center. The Soft eLicenser that was installed (created) has a serial number. I believe that is the number you need to enter.
It says: “Start the reactivation by selecting the Soft-eLicenser that is holding the license(s) you intend to reactivate below”
Both my USB-elicenser and Soft-elicenser is registred. The problem is that my product is just registred on the USB, not the soft. So how can I reactivate my soft when it doesn,t have a product registred to it?
If the license is on the USB eLicenser, and can’t also be on the soft eLicenser (that would be two licenses). Also, once you move a license from the soft eLicenser to the USB, it can’t be moved back.
I read through this thread again and admit I am not sure exactly of your situation.
But I can,t use Cubase since it,s not installed on my new computer, they want me to reactivate it with a new code, but cant do that, since I have no Soft to reactivate?
You shouldn’t need a license on the soft eLicenser if you have one on the USB dongle AND it is plugged in. Just plug it in, open ELicenser Control Center to make sure the license is there.
Then, install Cubase. Installing should not require any license but, just in case, make sure the dongle is plugged in.
Then start Cubase. On initial start, you may get a message about REGISTERING (not to be confused with activating), to which you can simply click, “already registered”.
