Need Help With Audio Matching Up With MIDI Tracks - VariAudio/Hitpoint Navigation

I guess there are different ways of accomplishing this, I don’t think I hit the right method yet or not getting the results I had hope for. Basically, I am trying to do a remix of a song, bring in the stems to their respective audio channels and have everything align up.

I welcome any help I can get. If it is a task that requires a lot of work, I would not mind paying someone to help me work through this.

I normally write & compose in MIDI with VSTi’s or my Nautilus. That is how my brain is wired to Cubase. I have done live recording with audio (Time) vs. MIDI (Bars), What I don’t have a lot of experience with is all the unique audio editing that Cubase has to offer. Like how to setup Cubase into a bar vs. seconds format with the audio tracks. I messed around with variaudio, HitPoint navigation, but I am just not getting it perfect.

I realize there are a lot of factors that impact the timing of a song when I am given a stack of stems to work with. Things like tape stretch, musicians not having consistent timing, tape speed varying with older tunes and any latency that may have been introduced to the WAV files in some way.

Appreciate any help offered.

There are a couple of things here to note - one is the master timeline can be changed to indicate bar/beats, seconds, time code, frames, and so on. But did you know that you can add addition ruler tracks to the projects, which also can be set above. In this way, you have multiple but different timeline rulers displayed at the same time.

That is a great idea! TY for your input.

I Welcome any other suggestions that may help out.
