Need to move a system onto the previous page

I’m working on a piece for piano-four-hands. The systems in each part have to match, especially where the page turn is needed.

In the attached file in pages 6-7 the Primo part has 4 systems on the page, the Secundo part has 3 systems. My eyeballs say there is room for the 4th system, but Dorico put it on the next page. I see ways to push a system onto the next page, but not one to pull it back to the previous page. What can I do? I don’t want to move the last system of the Primo part onto the next page because there is such a gap at the bottom of the Secudo page.

In Engrave mode, select something on the first bar of that page for the secundo, Ctrl/Cmd+click something in the last bar of the system you want to move, and then use the Make Into Frame button in the left panel.

I didn’t quite understand what you wrote and my first attempt didn’t work. I see now that what you are saying is select something in the first and last bars of what you want to go onto one page. That did work. Thank you.

Also, you will see that there is barely enough room if you turn off collision avoidance. But that is because your gap between systems is excessive! Leave collision avoidance on. Drop the system gap down to 10 and it should work (even lower but I’m assuming you want to keep the player’s systems aligned).

After that, you might want to revisit the percentage settings that control how the systems are justified so that the less dense pages are more evenly spread out and/or make a page template with a shorter music frame and adjust it to your liking.

(We can help you with that!)
