New Cubase 14 Score Editor questions

I tested new Cubase 14.0.10 Score Editor yesterday. To me it looks really good. Few questions:
a) Where do we change the size of a chord (Am)?
b) How to change the bar number (from 2 to 1)?
c) Can I have Name of the Song in two lines (name in first line and code in second line)?
d) Is there some kind of optimize view -option like in the old one?

Hi theijjlmusic, thanks for your feedback.

That’s not possible in the new Score Editor. If you export to Dorico, you can fine tune the look there if required.

The Score Editor does follow the offset defined in “Project Setup, Time Offset”.

I’m afraid that also isn’t possible in the Score Editor.

No, there isn’t. I’m curious though, what do you feel that should do? Take a look if Layout Settings options to see if tweaking them provides what you need.

Thank you for the answer! Time offset seemed to work fine. I believe with layout settings I can do necessary changes if needed. My simple score looked quite nice today :slightly_smiling_face:

I noticed now that Lyricist-field and tempo-symbol (90) overlap a little bit. Can I do something about it.

Can you show a screenshot or project file where this is occuring? Is this happening in page view?
There aren’t tools in the new Score Editor to influence that, but I’m curious as to why this is happening at all.

Here it is. It is in Page mode

That would be interesting for me too! It’s so weird but I can’t drag the tempo info to where I want it - it is stuck right above the first bar and always in the way…
Same for the bar numbers - I wonder why they are not hideable??!!

Thanks for the detail. This situation is in fact a limitation of the automatic alignment within the music frame and the header items. You can adjust the “Music Margins” in Layout Settings / Page Setup to increase the distance manually.

Frank, regarding the bar numbers: these small bar numbers don’t print or export to pdf, they are there for navigation purposes only. We are looking at providing a way to hide them in a future patch release though.

I increased the music margin to 14,61mm and it caused big empty space between the staves. What to do?

Thank you for your answer - I already read this in the manual. But I think most people don’t need bar numbers while editing/writing sheet music. You need it on the paper afterwards. Especially not on every bar. They are in the way of the actually important part of the written music. If I wanna know which bar I’m in

  • I press play and listen to the music
  • I look at the written parts to know where I am
  • I look at the bar numbers in the arranger window
  • I use rehearsal letters or markers to mark where I am
There is lots of ways to do so but in my opinion this function should be switched of by default. Who goes like: “Man I wish I would know the bar number I’m currently in - in my on piece that I write right now”??
    You know what I mean?
