Hi! I’m trying to make the new score editor draw quater triplets. Once I draw them directly in the score editor using 3:2 tuplets - it works. Once I use an already played part or I draw the notes in piano roll - I’m getting a strange interpretation of it as a quater note + two slured eights + quater. And I can’t find the way to look it right. On the picture on the left you can see the piano roll - two groups of three notes are absolutely identical. The first marked with red is written in score editor. The second - pink - in piano roll. On the right you can see the result. How to make the second one look like the first one?
Hi,
How is the Display Quantize set, please?
Try selecting the second note in the tuplet and press the quarter note button in the toolbar to force the notehead duration.
There are currently some bugs where notes aren’t shown with the right length in the score editor after you change their length. We’ve made some improvements to this which will be in the next update.
Hi! Tried selecting quater for the second tuplet. Doesn’t help.
Here’s another picture. The part is full of quater triplets - it was played live and then fully quantized in piano roll. You can see how it looks in the score view.
The DQ is set to auto - quaters for both regular and tuplets, as you can see on the picture. But I tried everything - changed it a lot, inserted DQ events with different setting… I couldn’t get normal triplets in the score.
Hi,
Quater note triplets have a base of 1/2 and I think there is a tuplet base of 1/2 missing in DQ.
Or does the base 1/4 in DQ mean 1/2 triplets?
best regards
Could you attach the project or send it to me in a DM?
I’ve tried it here and it’s working ok for me in a new project with notes on a 1/4T grid:
It’s possible that some of the bugs I’ve fixed in the quantizer have improved the situation in my build (and these changes will be in the next update)
Ok, I’ll send the project a bit later. By the way… in previous versions in the score editor we had a syncopation option where we could set it to full, relaxed or off. Do we have something similar here in the new editor?
score demo.cpr (977.0 KB)
Ok, here’s the project. When you open it you should see this strange triplet interpretation. But if you delete all this blank space before the clip with it’s tempo and signature changes - the score view really starts to show normal triplets. But it shouldn’t be like this, right?
And once we are here… Please bring back zoom with ctrl+mouse wheel in the score editor!
Thanks))
This is a strange one. If I create a new project then it works as expected. Also if I take a copy of this part and move to the start of the project then it’s ok:
It seems to be a problem with the 4/4 time signature in bar 690 that stops this tuplet pattern from being recognised. I’ll have to investigate this further.
Re: syncopation. We don’t have these options at the moment. Dorico has a huge number of options to control syncopation, although we think of it in terms of beat grouping --see the help docs: Steinberg ). We hope to make some of these options available in the future.
Updated to 14.0.10. The issue is not fixed yet…
