I downloaded the new HALion SE 3.5 and it patched correctly. Now, when I open the standalone one, it says invalid license … ?? How can I validate/ re-download the old one ??

If you need it to be version 3.5 for the new licensing system, get it through [Steinberg Download Assistant]( Get Your Steinberg Product | Steinberg).
Sometimes just running Download Assistant without even downloading anything is enough to fix issues. It does a bunch of checks and can update some things on its own. Give that a try first.
