New Group Folder - Solo MIDI tracks not working

  1. Add an audio track
  2. add it to a folder bus
  3. add a midi track to that folder bus
  4. hit solo, and the midi track mutes

Its working fine in in normal folders, just not the new folder bus.

I honestly don’t remember if it was working in 15.0.20 and it stopped in 15.0.21

Thanks!

CORRECTION: The issue is sidechain inputs only. It also happens if nothing is connected, which might be expected since it not connected to anything routed to that group.

I don’t see this here, works as expected in 15.0.21 on my MacBook.

Glad it works on Mac…I should have clarified, I am on Win 11. It definitely does not work in this version.

Paul, what settings you have to see the folder data? I cannot see mine and is very frustrating! Thank you

I am wondering if this is maybe the correct way. If the Midi track is routed to e.g. an Instrument track that is within the folder group, solo works as expected. If it is routed to something outside the folder group it gets muted.
The same principle applies to audio, group, and effect tracks. If they are routed to the folder group they get soloed, otherwise they get muted.

From my point of view it is not a bug but a desireable feature.

Ok, I did not understand that you solo the group track. I checked here and it’s the same problem on Mac too, so I can confirm this bug.

Even if I have the midi routed to a plugin or instrument inside the folder group, its the same behaviour. I tried different midi track routings and it does not matter. Regular folders work fine with midi, so I am just going to stick with that and route the old way.

@Alexandru_Stoicea Does this help?

Hmmm… for me it works.
Waveform

For me too …

As soon as I drag the Midi track outside the group folder, it gets muted when I solo the group track.

Solo

Sorry, I just noticed that it DOES work if you route it to in instrument in that group, but it does not work if its only routed to a sidechain input. I am trying to route it to either vocalsynth or evoke, and it will not work on that type of bus.

For some reason, it will solo properly if its only routed to a sidechain in a normal folder.

I did find a workaround though…just use solo defeat.

Good find. That should actually not happen.

I found it. You either see data, either automation.
