New Laptop for Cubase 6 - comments requested

Hi

I am in the process of ordering a laptop for running Cubase with main plug-ins being Reaktor, Kontakt, and Stylus RMX.

  1. I am presently considering a Dell XPS 17 and I kindly request comments regarding the specs, see below.
  2. For a reasonable additional price the XPS 17 comes with a touchscreen. Does Cubase support using a touchscreen, e.g. for moving objects around in the main project window and for adjusting the mixer faders? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I would feel silly finding out after purchase that a touchscreen cannot be used with Cubase 6.

Dell XPS 17
Intel Core i7-2670QM processor
Display : 17.3in HD+ WLED True-Life (1600x900)
RAM: 8192MB (2x4096) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
Hard Drive : 1TB (2x500GB) Serial ATA (7200RPM) Dual HDD (One drive for OS+programs, one drive for data, i.e. Cubase projects and samples)
Graphics : 3GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Graphics Card
Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64 BIT)

Thanks a lot for your comments!

More than likely the touchscreen is basically just going to emulate the mouse.
Hover finger over screen to move cursor.
Tap screen to click.
Put finger on screen and move, just like clicking and dragging.

While Cubase doesn’t have any touchscreen enabled features (such as supporting multi-touch, which is application specific anyway), the mouse emulation will work.
Ie Hold finger on fader and pull down.
