It looks like everything in the UI has been outlined with a sharpie. Literally every element on screen is screaming for attention with ultra-contrast. There’s no softness at all. I feel like my brain can’t filter out irrelevant information because every insert, send, and channel button is lit with a neon sign.
This is a massive, shocking leap backward in UI design. I actually gasped when I opened a large project. I feel like I literally cannot look at this mixer let alone use it regularly.
And there’s still no horizontal scroll with modifier + scroll wheel. Good lord.
Seriously, you cannot tell me this is easier to look at. There’s actually slightly more information visible on the Cubase 12 mixer, but boy it doesn’t feel like it, does it? Also, why are the black levels on the 13 mixer so lifted? And is it just me or is it slightly green/brown tinted?
I don’t know why I’m having such a visceral reaction to this. I usually don’t mind UI changes.
The fact that selecting a channel outlines every insert slot, send, and bit of negative space on the channel bright white is extraordinarily unpleasant to look at. Sure, channel selection in the old mixer was a bit understated. But, good grief, is it entirely necessary to invert the blank space on the entire channel?
I dunno, man. I’ve been using Cubase for 17 years and I’ve never had a second thought about the UI. Maybe my brain is broken, but I literally cannot look at this. Sh*t hurts my eyes.
