New nuendo crash

Hi,

Here’s a new one I never had. I have a session open with 4 or 6 vsti and alot of unactive tracks (my template) and after say … 10/20min crash to desktop no warning. Ram is 60%
I have no sleep mode, steinberg Audio Power is activated.
I have no idea what is going on.
back up session opens correctly .
I recently (for the last 10month) had terrible problems with kontakt and reinstalled Kontakt 6.6 that is suposed to work with nuendo.
I didn’t have that crash related to kontakt any more… but now this.
I add the last crashDump if someone know how to read this. Else i’ll ask support.

I recently did a search for how to read CrashDumps. I found two free MS apps–Virtual Studio and WinDMG.

I opened your crash dump in both. WinDMG reported this. I think Exception Analysis will be helpful. It helped me find an annoying problem.

had this again right now…
It’s almost like it happens when I do nothing on the computer for a while.
And on reopen Nuendo it says “vst.3 set” is involved ?

I’m not big on reading crash dumps myself, but there are several clues in the Exception Analysis section. The first few lines are system related (video driver, processor, audio driver, etc), but I’d definitely look at the plugins being reported.

The NI stuff (Kontakt, Reaktor, VC 76), Melodyne, and Abbey Road (Waves) is worth a closer look. NI has been updating plugins at a feverish rate lately as VST2 support winds down. Every time I open Native Access, there is a new update. It could be something as simple as needing to update them. There was a Melodyne update about a month ago, so you could check that out. I’ve divested in Waves plugins, but I’ve read that their stuff has been problematic (for some) as of late. Spectrasonics has updated Omni, Keyscape and Trilian in recent months.

Of course, I’m on the mac M1 side of the fence (switched from Windows last year) and dealing with the Intel to ARM transition, but that’s where I’d begin my search. Making sure that you have the latest/greatest plugin versions could go a long way in helping with stability.
