Hello, I purchased and downloaded Cubase Elements 14.
I am French.
I activated the license via Steinberg Activation Manager.
I downloaded Cubase and its plugins via Steinberg Download Assistant.
When I launch Cubase Elements 14, the “New Project” function is grayed out, so I cannot use Cubase. I’ve been trying for three days to fix this issue by all possible means.
I use Cubase Pro so I’m not sure if we’re seeing the same thing. I can’t take a screenshot right now but if you see the Hub after opening Cubase and click on the File menu, ‘New Project’ will indeed be grayed out.
To do this from the Hub you need to click on the button at the bottom of the window (toward the left) that says, in English, ‘Create Empty’. This will give you the appropriate dialog to create a new project.
@SAMUEL_PAYSSERAND - Welcome to the forum. As @KT66 stated, if you try to use the File Menu while the hub is open, it is disabled because the “New Project” function opens the hub. It’s greyed out because it’s already open. So either create create a Project Template or just click “Create Empty” as KT66 said. If you hit Cancel at the hub and select New Project from the menu, you’ll just get the hub again.
Thanks for the screenshot.
I see you’ve made a liar out of me because your ‘Create Empty’ button is on the far right. I have the ‘news’ disabled on my hub and the button shows up left of centre.
I guess it primarily aims at rookies as it mostly offers tutorials and help. In addition, it gives you the latest news in case you don’t visit this forum or you are not interested in the newsletter.
It collapses all “New Project” features, such as create empty, or create from template into a “wizard” which also includes “process specific” templates and audio configurations for scoring, production, master, and recording. It also provides a consistent interface for default folder location, and project-specific folder creation, or “prompt for new location.” All of those options would quickly clutter the File menu. Further, they create a “feature container” where future updates will include other types of projects with specific template examples going forward, which is actually very helpful.
Yeah, you can turn that bit off while still retaining the “New Project +” features. I’ve found the included templates to be really good examples of how one may go about approaching projects like (In Nuendo) Atmos mixing (complete with side-chain send configurations) and 7.1 post-production
track configurations complete with where they set brick-wall limiters, etc.
I rather like the “Location 1, 2, 3, 4” options in Nuendo as well so you can have destination folder options already created.
Yes, there’s a lot more in the hub as described above if you look at the whole hub. I was merely referring to the left side of the hub.
If you don’t want to use the hub just create an empty project in a designated folder as your goto template, copy this folder and take it from there. Each to their own
Ah, cool!
Reminds me that it must have been ages since I watched the British comedy series “The IT Crowd” with the signature line “Have you tried to turn your computer on and off?”
I have the same problem. The thing is the window is to big for my laptop so this Create is under the taskbar. Looks like might solved this problem by activating hide taskbar.
