No, it seems to be a limitation of the Steinberg Download Installer. Needs a “real” wifi network, not a 5G one from a phone (that would be ten times faster though…)
Did you really mean that?
Are you trying to spit hairs? (lol!)
This is really great. Finally, I can watch the Dorico YouTube videos and try out the instructions simultaneously on the same machine. Thank you very much!
Wow, so many nice improvements.
Jesper
Was this not possible before?
Thank you Steinberg! So many useful improvements in 5.1
Love cautionary key signature choice!
Seems to have been a Windows thing.
As a Mac user, I’m glad I don’t even have to know what an ASIO is, let alone whether I need one.
For some reason, when I start up the Download Assistant I get an error message saying ‘A connection to the download server could not be established. Check your internet connection and try again.’ I’ve no idea why this happens, as I most certainly have a functioning internet connection.
Not on the same machine using the same sound card for both, Dorico and e.g., internet (YT). The sound card was exclusively occupied by Dorico using the ASIO driver from the sound card instead of it’s – now – bulit-in one. So far, this has led to error messages and silence in the browser, so it’s a real progress in my configuration.
Moreover, I couldn’t listen to an audio file exported from Dorico without closing the program. Now it works and saves a lot of clicking and nerves.
I’ve had the same and I went on the Steinberg website in the support tab, a message said we need to update the assistant because of this error and now it’s working
Thank you! I’ll try that…
Yes, Windows 11 Home 23H2 in my case. Works fine now after a little change with great success in device setup. Downloading 5.1 and installation worked completely smoothly.
Sometimes it’s the little things that bring a lot of joy: I think it’s great that you can now format the entries in the Project Infos in italic, bold or italic/bold. Thank you for that one
My very favorite part of the Version History PDF:
Brace position. From the department of vanishingly small minutiae, when determining the precise position and size of the brace glyph…
I intuit the fine hand of @Lillie_Harris at work here…
Humour? In documentation? Surely you know me better than that that’s all @dspreadbury.
I was going to search for the new version “gem” but haven’t had a chance yet. Well done!
OH MY GOD, fermata/caesura playback is game-changing for me!!!
It’s allowed me to remove a bunch of extraneous “invisible” tempo markings and micro-adjustments to the MIDI playback.
I have to say, this and gliss playback were two things that make playback of my music a LOT easier. I get to hear my 2nd symphony the way it was MEANT to!
Lovely four-line staves from the YouTube Round-Up video! For a moment I thought I have to revisit my knowledge on key signatures theory!
After watching the new feature roundup video, my brain is overloaded with new info once again. Not a bad thing, though.
