I like the new C15 approach, but the previous versions indented method also works.
The idea is that anything within a folder is indented, its like when you have a header of text and indent its paragraph, the reader knows this text belongs to this header.
Both Methods work, Its a shame there’s no choice, to please people who prefer 1 over the other.
We sent a man to the moon, but in 2025 we don’t seem to be able to let customers have a choice over 2 options of how a folder system looks !
Maybe this should be a Nuendo and Pro option only.
No, issue is fixed now, I didn’t want the children to inherit the parent folders color, that was the issue, I like my Automation to be a specific color so I know where it is in my mix.
As of 15.0.20, it still isn’t. But it certainly looks like a very much requested feature considering the comments here. I also prefer the older C14 layout.
Yes, as long as there is just one sub-folder, it works. But I work with up to five sub-folders for each instrument section, corresponding to meticulously organized instrument sections inside VE Pro, and with this changed appearance in C15 it gets so cluttered that it’s almost impossible to see which track belongs to which folder. NOT good Steinberg - you need to give users a revert option!
If everything looks the same color it gets confusing.
If I am looking at 20 tracks and 20 automation tracks and they all have the same color, it can appear confusing. Color should be used to quickly reference by eye, what is what.
In Ableton all Automation, is Red, this means whenever you see Red, its automation. It makes designing audio quicker and more efficient.
