I’ve got Wavelab Pro 12 installed on my 2020 Mac Mini M1 (running MacOS Sequoia 15.5). It sees my Apollo 16 interface ins and outs just fine, but it does not output audio. The meters move. There’s just no output. I’ve tried creating separate outputs in Wavelab on other channels with no luck.
I’m not running anything (hardware or software) between the interface and the speakers. If anyone has any suggestions for a fix, I’d appreciate it.
The UA Mixer is always an unnecessary extra hurdle but unrelated to that, do you know if you gave WaveLab permission to use the “Microphone” when you first launched it?
It seems like a silly question but you need to answer yes, even just for audio playback. It’s an annoying macOS (over) security thing.
Do you have an alternate audio device you can try as a test?
I can’t believe I don’t know this but does the Mac mini have an internal speaker you can use as a test to play audio to see if WaveLab has permission to play audio? That may help you narrow things down.
I don’t want to give you bad info but you can use The Google for “how to reset microphone permission macOS” and decide what to try. I don’t want to suggest a way that resets too many things.
I remember there being a command you have to run in the macOS Terminal that will reset all permissions so you are asked again, or there is a way to target a specific app.
That said, if audio is playing from the internal speaker OK, maybe it’s not a permissions issue.
I think we’d have to see some screenshots of your WaveLab Audio Connections area and maybe the UA Console to help spot the issue.
Are the meters moving in the UA Mixer/Console when you play audio from WaveLab?
