No audio when I physically play on my MIDI keyboard

Even with the monitor on, it doesn’t seem to comply. There’s still nothing coming through.

Can you see any indication of MIDI getting to the synth. I’m not familiar with your synth. If MIDI gets to the synth, then try another one like Halion.
All your setting look OK.

No I can’t get any sound from my patches. With Halion, I opened it up and selected a random one called Verve, then tried the ‘Introverted Piano’. Usually I would be able to play physically on my MIDI and it would play the notes. But to get any sound I have to actually press the on-screen keyboard with my mouse.

The MIDI from the keyboard that is coming into Cubase is not getting relayed to any of the tracks. This is not about audio or VSTi’s. There is even nothing on a simple MIDI track.

That is exactly where I was. No MIDI getting to the synth.
I found that I could play an existing MIDI track though the synth. I could record MIDI from the Axiom-61 MIDI KBD on a MIDI track and then play that track back thru the synth. But I could NOT play the AXiom-61 MIDI KBD through the synth. It took my quite a few hours to find the MIDI thru activate thing.
Are you trying this on a track that has MIDI already on it ? Does it play the synth? If not I would try that. If that works, then try to record from the MIDI KBD to the track. If it records, then you know the path from the MIDI KBD to the track is good AND the path from the track to the synth is good. So the problem is “live MIDI” only.
Maybe this will show something new at least. It is how I fixed my issue.
It’s getting late here, I will check back tomorrow. Good luck.

Can you elaborate more on this? What happened to your pitchbend wheel and how did you tried to fix it?

Maybe add the MIDI Monitor as a MIDI insert on a MIDI track and then press a few keys on your device?
Or, Download MIDI Translator Classic and see what MIDI messages are being sent to it. Also might want to check this thread.

Unfortunately not. The MIDI doesn’t seem to be playing through my instruments. It won’t record at all. Cubase is picking up the signal of the MIDI doing stuff but it isn’t doing anything with that information.

I think finding the solution to that problem is the topic for a new thread, but for some reason it wasn’t working. Cubase was picking up the signal of me using my pitchbend wheel but it wasn’t using it to change pitch.
I pressed a whole bunch of buttons after getting really fed up with it and the issue spread to my whole MIDI keyboard.

I was specifically messing around with this page, the MIDI Filter page in the Preferences:

I tried removing all the info in the Controller section, and that’s when the problems seemed to start.

Hope that helps. I appreciate the effort, guys. Seriously.

Solved, thanks guys. I didn’t realize that the ‘Channels’ section meant it was filtering out those channels. And the default channel was channel 1, which was filtered out.

Thanks for your effort, everyone. Really appreciate it.

Note to self: Do Not button mash in that section of preferences.

Bingo!
Happy to help.

This is it!!! :star_struck:

I am having the same issue here, I can see there is Midi signal going in at the bottom but just no sound when I hit the keys, can anyone help with how to fix the issue please?

Problem FIXED - I needed to reset the midi keyboard and it magically worked.

Hi! Exactly the same problem, it happened yesterday when I updated to version 14.0.10. The solution described above does not work. MIDI ports, In/Outs, Drivers, etc. have all been checked many times. I checked all the possible options that are described in this thread (including resetting the MIDI keyboard). The most interesting thing is that if I run the Cubase 13 version, everything works as it should with the same settings. Are there any fresh ideas?
