I need some help. Audio stopped playing through my ‘Control Room’ in Cubase-14. My interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 212 3rd Gen. If I disable ‘Control Room’ and configure the Focusrite in the ‘Outputs’ section of ‘Audio Connections’ I can hear sound again.
I have tried -
Deleting and adding back the monitors in ‘Control Room’
Reinstalling Focusrite Drivers
Deactivating/Activating ‘Control Room Channel’
Upgrading to Cubase 15 hoping it would blow away my bad configuration.
… all, unsuccessful. I’ve taken a screenshot of each state hoping maybe someone can see something obvious I’ve done to break it.
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Just set the Outputs under Outputs to not connected, that’s it.
Control Room wants these outputs exclusively. There are other ways, too, but this is how it’s supposed to be.
please try this: Shut down Cubase and temporarily rename both preference folders in Cubase 14 and Cubase 15 by adding an “_” or something else. If you’ve got Cubase 13 on your system as well, please do the same.
You’ll find the preference folders here:
Now, you can restart Cubase and the default preferences will be installed again. The reason why you need to rename the older preference folders, too, is that Cubase looks up to two versions down to find previous user preferences and to migrate them to the new version.
If this solves your problem then your preferences got messed up for some reason. If it doesn’t change anything just delete the new folder and rename the old one.
That worked! Thanks so much!! What can I expect to lose from resetting my preferences? Looks like all my track and FX presets are still there but I have lost all my key commands.
Really appreciate you getting me up and running again.
You can retrieve your key commands from your old preference folder:
Key Commands.xml.
Just replace the one in your new folder.
If you’ve lost more than just your key commands then I would work with profiles
That would mean you had to go back to the previous state (preference folder-wise) and create a profile. This is an amazing and mostly underrated Cubase feature that takes care of a lot of things. You could also do this manually. Either way, I would keep the old preference folder for a while (you can store it anywhere you like) in case you need more of your old settings. And I would suggest to create a Profile every now and then.
