No .dmp file after "poof" crash

I had a five hour drum session yesterday and had Nuendo 13.0.51 crsh three times during the session. In all cases, it was one of the “poof” crashes, where Nuendo closes. No dmp file is generated and nothing is in the application log of Windows 11. I’m not sure there is a solution to this issue, I’d just like to point out that Nuendo should have some way to create the dmp file so I could figure out which plugin caused the crash. I’m fairly sure this is NOT a Nuendo bug. I am feeling pretty sure it’s a bad plugin, but have no way to trace it down.

I used to have this fairly often when I used the Sonarworks plugin. That was super buggy and would cause the “poof” crash. I’ve removed it from all my projects at this point. At one point Sonarworks asked me to run some background app that created a log when Nuendo crashed. That’s how I found that one. But, it was kind of a drag to have to load up another app after starting Nuendo.

OK, so this post was more of a “venting” than anything else. I’m not even sure how it could be solved.

You have not mentioned which OS you’re using. For Windows, there are utilities such as Process Explorer that should be able to create a useful mini dump of the memory status at the moment of the crash. Typically, software engineers will be able to read and interpret these.

I did mention Windows 11 in the post. And… you are correct, that is the program I was running to find the crash before. Process Explorer. I guess I just wish Nuendo had a sandbox that prevented crashes. But, that would probably add to the latency.

Uh, sorry - I missed that.
