No hardware outputs in audio connections 😄

I’m using Cubase Pro12 on a MacMini with a RME Fireface UFX+ and an SPL MADISON via optical MADI.
All analog INs and OUTs used to work properly, but now I don’t See any MADI INs and OUTS in Cubase’s audio connections.
The connection/Sync between Fireface and MADIFACE is ok. The green MADI LED is green. I also see the outputs in RME’s TotalMix but not in Cubase anymore
Also in Cubase’s studio settings I only see the analogue, AES-EBU und ADAT INs and OUTs, but no MADI … :weary:
Please help , I don’t know what to do.

Thank you!

apple’s Audio-midi-setup also only shows analog, aesebu and ADAT, but no MADI…? Could the problem accociated with that…?

I would think so. Maybe you can bring forward your case on the RME Audio forum as well?

I’m on Windows 10 and have an older Fireface 800, so my setting program is different. I can’t tell from your screencap above if you have a corresponding menu, but here is the first place I would check in mine given the issue stated.

Hello and thank you. I guess in the Fireface settings is everything ok (?)

At the bottom of the Fireface USB Settings window, yours is showing that it is on a USB2 bus. Are you connected through a USB hub? I wonder if that is reducing the number of channels available due to limited bandwidth.

Also, you might try updating to the latest firmware and driver. My UFX+ is on firmware v55 and driver 4.17. Here’s what my settings window looks like:

Edit: I just checked the RME manual. On page 8 under system requirements, it says that there is no MADI record or playback on USB2.

Hello and thank you!
I guess I had the solution:
It was the cable! Maybe too long? It is about 4-5m.
But I thought a high quality Lindy USB3 cable is ok…(?).
It seems not. Now I changed to the original cable which comes with the fUFX+ and now the Bus shows ā€œUSB3ā€ and State Host LED is blue (not orange as before).
It seems that was the solution.
BUT: I really need a longer cable. Not it lies across my desk…
Has anybody an idea which 5m cable works properly?
Thank you so much!

From what I’ve read, 3m is the max length for USB3. You may be able to find a passive cable that works longer than that.

Another option is to put a powered (active) extender or hub in the middle.

I don’t have any particular parts to recommend. Just search around and read user reviews.

For that you need an active extension cable.
