No License Found - HALion Sonic

I’m hoping someone can help. I’ve looked through various posts on the forum but none that have offered a solution that works.

Initially, Groove agent had the issue – Sometimes the program starts and seems to be working but after a short amount of time it sudden stops. When I open the program, I get the message “No License Found. Please switch to Steinberg Activation Manager for more info”

I tried the following …
Downloaded and updated the STEINBERG DOWNLOAD ASSISTANT
Downloaded and updated Cubase LE AI Elements
Downloaded and updated Groove Agent
This fixed Groove agent but after doing this I’m having the same issue with Halion Sonic
Downloaded and updated Halion (twice)

Deactivated and reactivated the Cubase Elements 12 license via the Steinberg Activation Manager
Rebooted the computer many, many times.
Halion Sonic is still throwing me the message “No License Found. Please switch to Steinberg Activation Manager for more info”
I tried to set up a support request ticket directly with Steinberg but the option is not available. The only option is to contact a local Steinberg Distributors which is kind of odd considering I didn’t purchase or deal with a local distributor when I purchased the software.

Windows 11 Pro
Software: Cubase LE AI Elements 12.0.70

*EDIT - While I haven’t made any changes, I’m wondering if this has something to do with the roll out of Cubase 13? HALion does not seem to be a part of that release? I don’t think it should cause the error with version 12 but I’m at a loss to what else might be causing this to happen.

Hi,

Make sure, you are using the Cubase Elements library, not Cubase Pro library, please. Double-check this in the Steinberg Library Manager.

Thanks for that. I haven’t used the Library Manager much at all and I can’t see if the library items relate to Cubase Pro or Elements? I’m pretty sure I downloaded them from the “Elements” section of the Download Assistant though.

This is becoming incredibly frustrating.
I was getting nowhere with a fix for Halion so I resorted to using some other external free VST instruments but this morning I opened up Cubase and now both Groove Agent and Halion are not working giving the same old error. It seems impossible to get assistance from Stenberg directly so unless anyone on the forums has any other suggestions I guess I’ll just try to find a VST instrument to replace Groove Agent.
 I just want to write music using the tools that I paid for.

I’ve got similar problem since update to Cubase pro 13. Opened an oldish project and it says no valid liceneses for HS common presets content or Trium Avron or Voltage. I share your frustration. Stops all work on projects with these issues

Hi,

HALion Sonic is not HALion Sonic SE. You need a dedicated license for HALion Sonic.
