"No License to upgrade selectable"

I recently updated my Cubase 11 Artist version to Cubase 12 Artist. However, when I tried to run Cubase 12, I recieved a message “Your License Has Expired.” I then attempted to enter my activation code to eLCC again, but the message “No License to upgrade selectable” appeared, preventing me from upgrading my license.
Could anyone please advise me on what steps I should take to resolve this issue?

Please take a screenshot of the licenses shown by the eLicenser Control Center, making sure to hide your eLicenser serial numbers. Please also check your receipt/purchase confirmation email for Cubase 12, to make sure that you purchased the correct upgrade from your old Cubase license.

It’s likely that all you have to do is click the Maintenance button to the top right, then run the Steinberg Activation Manager and refresh it.

Thank you!

I’m going to make sure to hide my serial number next time.
As you advised, I clicked the maintenance button, then ran the Steinberg Activation Manager and refreshed it, but it says “verification pending expired.” So, I clicked ‘more info…’ button and tried the process suggested on the homepage, which is :

  • Open the Steinberg Download Assistant.
  • Enter the Download Access Code at the top left.
  • A dialog box opens, prompting you to activate the corresponding license. It also shows an Activation Code. You don’t need to write it down.
  • Click on the [Upgrade] button.
  • An eLicenser Control Center window opens. The Activation Code has been filled in automatically.
  • Select the license you want to update/upgrade.
  • Click [Continue].
  • Click [Upgrade License].

However, the same message in the image that I uploaded appeared(no license to upgrade selectable). I don’t know what’s wrong with my cubase 12.

thank you for reading this long message…

Hello,

Could it be possible that your Cubase license was upgraded to the Steinberg Licensing?
So the license is no longer on the eLicenser but can be found in the Activation Manager.
Check these places:
My Steinberg

And the activation manager itself:

I had a similar and unexplainable case (with Iconica Opus).
You may want to contact Steinberg support with your issue.

This also on nice to know:

I was able to solve it by watching a YouTube video titled ‘Cubase 11 to 12 Upgrade Licensing Problems Walkthru and Fixes’.
Thank you for helping me!

That video you mention doesn’t seem to actually mention the “No License to upgrade selectable” problem, as far as I can see, so I don’t know how it helped you.

I continue to have this problem, and it’s driving me insane. I just can’t understand why probably every year, on average, I have to return to this forum to look for the latest problem caused by Steinberg. I paid for Cubase 13, but I don’t get my product. And I’ve been sat here for weeks now, trying every single day to sort this out when I return home from work.

Do you have a license showing in elicenser? What exactly is it labelled as?
What update did you buy?

Wow, that was a quick reply! Thank you

I am upgrading from Cubase 11 Pro to Cubase 13 Pro, specifically.

At the top of the picture, I click where it shows “Enter Activation Code”. The window at the bottom is what I then get. The results are greyed out.

In the next picture, you can see that I instead try to use the “Steinberg Activation Manager”. This page also refuses to activate my product, and in clicking on “Get More Info”, I am taken to a Steinberg page which showing a “solution” which also does not work in the slightest.

Anyway, thanks for the reply!

The issue is probably the annotation “Grace Period Eligible” shown in the eLCC. In the Activation Manager, you can click on the “user” symbol in the upper right to open a menu. There’s a function to check the grace period eligibility. Please execute this function and check whether the annotation disappears in the eLCC. If so, you should be able to redeem the code afterwards.

Hi, thanks Martin,

I have done the Grace Period Check previously, & just tried it again now. It shows “Cubase Pro 11 (Grace Period Eligible)” with an “Update” link.

I click Update, & I am presented with a webpage which tells me to check my emails. I check my emails, but there are no new emails (even in Junk folder).

I cannot find any redeem codes on any of the pages I’ve looked at, and the eLCC remains unchanged from the images I showed above.

Thanks for trying though mate.

I suggest to also check the Vouchers section in your mySteinberg account. Maybe there you’ll find a voucher for Cubase 13. It might take some more minutes for it to appear.

OK thanks. I don’t have a voucher that I can see, but in My Steinberg Account, under “Products”, I do have “Redeem Download Access Code” shown.

However, this also unfortunately leads to a dead-end: I input my download code from my email address, and it gives me an “Activation Code”, and shows the link “Send to eLCC”. I then click that link, it opens up my eLCC, but then shows me “No License To Upgrade Selectable”.

This is as far as I can get, hence the reason I am on this specific page. I’ve opened a ticket with the staff, so I’m hoping they’ll respond before too long.

Thank you guys

EDIT…was writing this before I saw your last post…so yeah, probably you’ll need support involvement to be sure what’s going on here.

OK…so yes, the fact you were grace period eligible is why your update didn’t work.
You can get a refund on the C13 update you have bought in that case and re-buy the 12 to 13 update that would be correct

But of course you first have to solve the issue of the email not turning up to complete grace period to 12…make sure you have the same mail address registered on Steinberg as you’re checking and perhaps send a support message explaining the fact you have grace period but mail isn’t turning up.

Urghh…  OK thanks mate, wow, what an extremely convoluted process. Normally when I buy any software programme, I pay the money, then I get the programme. Done. Simple.

But not Steinberg. With Steinberg we need to deal with download codes, activation codes, access codes, grace period time limits, eLCCs, Activation Managers, Download Assistant Managers, Library Managers, emails, etc, etc, etc.

Is it just me, or do you guys think this is all a bit crazy?!    :exploding_head: :face_with_spiral_eyes: :face_with_thermometer: :face_with_head_bandage: :sleepy:

Well, anyway thanks Grim! (he says, falling asleep after another evening on here     )

I had the same problem but look there were two Cubase 11 Elements, one regular 11 Elements and one 11 Elements Grace Period. Once I activated the other 11 Elements I was able to activate Cubase 14 Elements.
My question is what will happen to my Cubase 11 Elements once I update my 11 to 14?

Nothing, it will continue to work. I guess you are using the Soft eLicenser, as long as this is ok it will simply work.

However, if you change your Computer you will lose this, so it is a good Idea to get a USB stick and move your licenses on that Stick.

Thanks, yes I will be transferring my license to USB dongle tonight.
