Hey there i bought cubase 10 pro when it came out. I just upgraded and downloaded Cubase 12 but it says “no vailed license” When i go to Activation Manager it says no licenses Found. Not even Cubase 10 the one i bought? Do i have to buy a license to use cubase 12 ? Or is it a free upgrade?

What do you mean by you “just upgraded”? Did you buy and upgrade from Cubase 10 to Cubase 13? Cubase 12 is an older version and no longer available for purchase from Steinberg. The update from Cubase 10 to a newer release is not free, so you need to buy it.
If you already bought one, you should have received a Download Access Code that can be redeemed in the Steinberg Download Assistant. Since the license of Cubase 10 is located on the USB dongle, it’s not shown in the Activation Manager but in the eLicenser Control Center. The Activation Manager only lists products using the new licensing system. Cubase 10 still uses the old one and won’t be migrated.

Okay that you! I mean when i put my Download code in cubase 10 and cubase 12 popped up so i downloaded 12 and i have it on my desktop but it doesn’t work so im assuming i would need another download code for 12 ?

You need to buy the upgrade to Cubase 13, that will include Cubase 12. Both releases use Steinberg Licensing, not the eLicenser anymore.
I still don’t quite understand what you’re trying to do and what licenses you own. Did you buy an update to Cubase 12 in the past and still haven’t used the Download Access Code (DAC) for it? What code do you put in Cubase 10 and where? Could you post a screenshot?
If you have an unused DAC, you can enter it in the Download Assistant. If you haven’t bought an update from Cubase 10 to any later version yet, you can’t use the newer versions.
C12 is not a free upgrade. The reason C10 does not show in activation manager is that it is an elicenser based product and doesn’t use this newer licensing sytem.
Check your license for C10 using elicenser control centre software
Also important to note that elicenser will be unsupported in future…read up on what that means and consider whether tyou want to upgrade or be left with a product that may stop working at some point. Read this link.
Once you’ve purchased the new version, the first thing you should do is update your eLicenser; then what you need will be in the Download Assistant. This worked for me. The instruction on this is so unclear. Once you’ve transferred everything off of eLicenser, things get easier.
