I bought Cubase 14 and then never used when I saw it was ruining my scores, especially the drum score, where it didn’t even recognize at all.
So now I got C15 for Omnivocal. I put one project in and then copied a midi track I had put lyrics on a couple of days ago and it sang them.
Then I was trying some other songs where I wasn’t sure if they had the lyrics and looked and none did. I thought I had in one for sure, so I also opened in C13 and there were the lyrics. I then checked the first project that sang the lyrics but that score doesn’t show them so they must be hidden. I have no idea how anything works in this new score that just ruins what I’ve done already. How do I reveal them?
Unlike the old Cubase score editor, the new Dorico-based score editor no longer accesses the text property of the MIDI events, but treats the lyrics as separate events.
You can see this if you look at the track in the List Editor.
Of course, you can enter lyrics in the new score editor, but as already mentioned, these entries are independent of the text attribute of the MIDI events.
So ifI already entered lyrics in C13 or earlier and they don’t show, I have to enter all over again, to show in score? Will this confuse omnivocal, it those there are hidden are then duplicated?
You’ll have to decide whether it’s worth editing an old project in C15 or whether it’s better to do it in C13.
Will this confuse omnivocal, it those there are hidden are then duplicated?
There are no hidden elements, even though the text has to be entered twice (as a text attribute in the Key Editor for Omnivocal and as lyrics in the Score Editor). The two methods do not interfere with each other.
So I had a song where the track didn’t have the lyrics. I entered lyrics in the Cubase 15 score in a few measures where there was a harmony part I wanted to try with Omnivocal. After adding the lyrics, I did as I had done before with the Cubase 13 track to an Omnivocal track. That was my first use of Omnivocal and the track sung the vocals.
So a major difference was that, though this track had visible lyrics, when it was dragged to a new Omnivocal track, only pitches were sung. So I had to enter them all over again.
Summing up old C13 score with vocals, now invisible in C15, sung in Omnivocal.
New C15 score with lyrics added and visible, Omnivocal doesn’t recognize.
So far besides the destroyed drum score and this, everything else I’ve tried has taken much more time and I’ve had my 2nd crash and restart after putting it on yesterday.
