No Metronome Click

Hello all. Thanks to all of the people who’ve helped me over the last few days and I’m now able to hear sound from Cubase HOWEVER no sound whatsoever from the metronome (something of a major drawback). I’ve been into Metronome setup, activated the metronome etc and done everything I can think of but still no metronome. I’m using Cubase Pro 13. Any help greatly appreciated.

The last info from you is that you don’t have an audio interface.
Then you would need to use a MIDI click metronome. This needs to be send to your external MIDI device (select the proper output port in the metronome dialog), which will then generate the sound of the click.

Hi Johnny. Please excuse my density but I’ve attached a screenshot from the ‘metronome dialogue’ and the only option I have for output is ‘Stereo out’. MIDI is not given as an option. How do I correct this please?

try activating by going to control room click on studio set up then audio connections then control room then activate metronome click

Hi British. I’ve done as you suggested and the attached screenshot shows nothing about ‘activating metronome click’?

I think what @Johnny_Moneto meant, was that once you’re in the metronome setup dialog and set it to use MIDI click as you’ve already done , you should go to the tab “Click Sounds” and select the proper MIDI Output port there.

At the same time, select the proper MIDI Output Channel for your device (in many, this is the default 10) and the notes you want.

I’m obviously being really dense M.C because this is what I get. I don’t have any of the options you’ve shown. HELP!!

But, I think you do. I see you have a Roland UM-1 connected there. So this means, you have set it connected to a synth (?)

EDIT: I now see you’re using Halion Sonic. This means you have audio. At the same time I see you have your control room enabled possibly assigned to the same ports you use for audio out. I guess, @British suggestion is the way to go.

Open Control Room tab and enable the metronome there:
