Hi, I’m trying to find the option to change the presentation types of percussion kits and don’t see it. I have an orchestral score that has two percussion players. Each player has both kits and lone instruments. All I see when I go to layout options - players - percussion is I guess a global option to change the presentation type for each entire player for an entire layout. I am looking for a per-kit presentation option. For example player 1 has both a drum set and a moment when they’re playing just two instruments at once. and I want the drum set to appear as 5 line staff (which it is) and the other two-instrument-kit to appear as a simple 2-line grid.
Perhaps this could be adjusted via the Edit Instrument dialog.
Unfortunately, as you say, this option is currently set at the player level, and not at the percussion kit level. Is it possible for you to assign the two kits to different players? If so, that’s one way to approach this: obviously it’s easy enough to create a part layout containing both players. Things may be trickier in the score, however, if you sometimes want only one kit to appear, sometimes the other, and sometimes both; in particular you won’t be able to have a mid-system instrument change if you use this arrangement.
Ah, I see. Thanks, Daniel. If I understand, you mean assigning one of the kits to a pretend player, then making a layout that includes both of them?
Honestly since it was just a visual preference for clarity, I’ll just leave it as the 5-line setting to keep it simple (my deadline is today…).
Yes, exactly. As I say, this comes with some compromises in the full score layout.
