Cubase shows that I’ve recorded, but I get no playback
I can hear it as I record it… can see it showing up in the track bar, but when I hit play, it just pans over it and I get no sound

Have you maybe the monitor buttons (yellow ones above record button) enabled? With my set-up, that happens sometimes to me.
