I have a local frame to have the music continue on the same page between flows. The playhead follows the master frames, but when it comes to the local frame it disappears. Even if I click on the notation in the local frame and playback I still don’t see the playhead. What should I do?

See if this Play > Playback Option will help.
This is a known limitation. There’s nothing you can do about it except not use local frames.

In the meantime, for anyone else who has the same problem, I can confirm that it works fine on the Galley View.
However, it would be great if we could at least get the ability to scroll manually during playback in an update. Right now, the page just locks to the last master page and I can’t scroll during playback.
You should find that you can move the viewport around just the same as ever during playback, e.g. using the mouse to drag, or using Home/End, etc.
