NO SOUND AND VST SYSTEM LINK ERRORS

Hi everyone, I’m working with Cubase Elements 10.5 on the 2020 MacBook Pro, Catalina OS, 8 gig of RAM, 1.4GHz Processor.

I connect a microphone to my audio interface/mixer, which is the ProFX6v3, which then connects to my MacBook. Even when I’m not linking up the audio device, I have issues where there is no sound.

I go into audio connections and the only options for a bus preset is one mono input and either a stereo or two mono outputs. This always changes even when I just load the track, so it’s completely loaded differently to how I left it. Most of the time, analog 1 and analog 2 are selected for one Stereo bus on the Inputs and outputs and this works just fine.

I understand I may not be explaining this very well, but there are random times where suddenly the stereo can’t be found despite it being found when I was previously using the computer. I know about switching the ASIO driver. It’s just that different ports are sometimes visible and then sometimes just completely don’t exist.

The pictures I’ve added are at times when still no sound is produced, despite looking fine.

Any ideas? Thanks everyone. Ask questions to see if I can better explain things to you.

Jess

Hi and welcome,

Make sure Cubase has enabled Mic in the System Preferences, please.
Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Enable Cubase here.

I have the same problem, but with Windows 10. For now at least, because it fixes by itself sometimes. I would like to get rid of the problem permanently though. I’d be open to suggestions.
P.S.: I am writing this here because it would’ve been pointless to post an entirely different topic on what is essentially the same error, hope you understand.

The microphone was already enabled unfortunately. But thank you.

Yes I experience that. Sometimes it randomly is fixed and sometimes I just open the project and there are random outputs and inputs missing or suddenly appearing.

Hi,

I would like to get readable screenshots, to know your setup, please.

Please, deactivate VST System Link, if it is activated. This is useful, if you want to sync 2 computers with Cubase. Your Audio Device is set in the VST Audio Connections.

Here is an example of a track with no sound. I’m using the Built in Audio as the driver. I’ve given photos of all aspects of the system setup and what everything is connected to. Still no sound. VST system becomes deactivated due to too many errors. I can only add 3 photos at a time so you can find more photos in my subsequent replies.

Photo examples.

That is “VST System link”, not “VST System”. Do you use "VST System link " at all?
How about posting the screenshots at least correctly oriented…?

Hi,

As I mentioned already, set the VST System Link to Not Connected and don’t activate it (it is disabled, now).

What is the VSL in your case?
