No sound Cubase 11

Can somebody please help me by showing me where to look next when there is no sound coming out of Cubase.

I have checked the input and output settings and they seem to be pointing at my audio output device, but all possible sources of sounds from Cubase including loops are silent, actually the loop position pointer does not even move.

What audio output device is it?
Does it have an ASIO driver?
Have you selected it as device in Studio Setup/Audio System?

UMC ASIO Driver and was working Ok with Cubase 9.5 ans is currently working Ok with Dorico 5

If the playhead isn’t moving it suggests the driver is not loaded or something has crashed it…can you screencap the audio sytem page…also please confirm you tried just with an audio track in a new empty project and with no plugs in control room to rule out a dodgy plugin or project corruption.

Actually now out of the blues Midi based projects (which is all I use) have sound, and the loop’s play head moves but cannot hear the loop audio.

I had this today I went into the menu that Studio at the bottom (sorry im not in front of my Mac) and I think on the screen that allows you to change buffer size on one of the screens was a reset button that sorted it… I’ll be clearer tomorrow… It’s definitely in the studio tab sonewhere.
I still don’t know what the problem was though which is a little unsatisfactory…
