No sound in Cubase 12

I’m new to Cubase and have spent two hours looking through multiple forum posts and YouTube videos to try and solve this problem. When I originally opened Cubase, I could hear sound on my iMac speakers but NOT my headphones. Then, I started fiddling with Studio Setup and Audio Connections, and now I have no sound via the iMac speakers nor my headphones (in Cubase only).

I can still hear sound via anything other than Cubase. So I know it’s not my computer or headphones.

In Audio Connections: A strange this is that I can choose the Audio Output or the Control Room Audio Device, but not both. If I choose one, the system automatically toggles off the other.

Please help, because the program is unusable.

I may have solved this. I disabled Control Room completely, and then enabled output. And now I have sound.

What is the Control Room for?

Glad you got it working. From the manual: Control Room

Hi,

Control Room is useful to be able to route the signal to some monitor outputs and control it.

If you enable it, add the Monitor bus and set its output to your Audio Device’s ports.
