No sound through headphones

I have obviously recorded something and saved it but when I try to playback direct from laptop there’s no sound though there clearly is as can see the volumes moving. What am I doing wrong?

Can you post screencaps of “studio/studio setup/audio system”
and “studio/audio connections”.

I would try with a different driver…ASIO4all is simplest option…VB audio Matrix/Coconut is more complex but probably a better option if you’re intending working without any audio interface for anything more than the basics.

Many thanks Grim. I think the driver probably is the problem. I can’t remember which driver I installed originally but an option pop up appeared and I chose this one. I will see if I can alter that. thanks again.

Tried changing driver and got this. Groan!

Happy days, I have sound from my headphones. Many thanks for your patience and help. I had to select headphones see screenshot

Glad that it worked out for you. Your topic title got cut short and thus you never mentioned headphones.

Thanks Johnny. Sorry will make sure I title them correctly. Believe it or not the sound’s gone again and headphones are selected. No idea what’s going on Will sleep on it.

Because you changed it to the Tascam US driver and I guess that isn’t connected as you said you wanted to play it directly from your laptop.

The drivers I named you’ll need to search and download online and I would definitely recommend over the generic low latency driver.

Thank you for your continued support. Frustration reigns. Where can I find ASIO4all please.

Do I have to download Driver Support One? Recommended Windows Drivers : Driver Support One helps keep your PC drivers updated. Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8 & Windows 7.

Should be the first result in the list.

No you don’t.

First in that list is Driver Support One?

Doubt it.

Thanks for the link mlib. There are quite a few ‘Download’ options on that link, and the ones I have tried lead me to Driver Support One. Sorry for being a bit slow, I will get there.

There’s a download page accessible from the menu bar…maybe this direct link can work if the forum doesn’t block it.

Many thanks Grim. Thanks to all of you, I really do appreciate your help. This is all foreign to me and hopefully soon, my cluelessness will be consigned to history. I will try it now with new driver installed and see how I get on. I may yet have some questions.

Would you believe me if I told you that playback sound is now coming out of my laptop speaker (very quietly) It would be exremely beneficial to my well-being to hoy the whole lot out the window.
