No sound when installing Dorico 5 on Windows 11 .TT

No sound when installing Dorico 5 on Windows 11. Has anyone experienced the same thing?
It’s a little uncomfortable to work without sound. ^^

The following message appears every time when I start Dorico 5 on my computer.
“An essential component used by Dorico for playback has not been found.
Please run Steinberg Download Assistant and install the following:
HALion Sonic 7 - Instrument
Groove Agent SE 5 - Instrument”

I can’t fix the problem even if I erase those two and reinstall them. There is no problem with registering the VST library, and when you select a musical instrument in the HALion Sonic program and make a sound, it makes a sound.
It works fine on MacBooks… What’s wrong with Windows? T, T

Of course, it’s all installed using Download Assistant. What’s the cause and is there a solution? Should Dorico just use it on Mac? TT

Welcome to the forum @forcrony .

Please start Dorico and create a project from piano template and then choose from the menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and the corresponding zip file please post here. Thanks

Thank you very much for your interest in my concerns. I’m posting the diagnosis file you mentioned. I hope it’s resolved.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (264.2 KB)

I’m sure @Ulf will be back to offer further advice soon, but if you go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3, do you see a Steinberg folder in there, and is HALion Sonic.vst3 located in there?

Hi @forcrony , now I had a look and still Dorico’s audio engine still doe not recognize HALion Sonic 7 or GrooveAgent.
The question now is, how come?
So you already uninstalled both via the Windows Control Panel and reinstalled via the Steinberg Download Asisstant, right?
Please check with Dorico that if it runs, that the VSTAudioEngine.exe is not in a foul or stale state. The tool to use is Process Explorer. It’s like TaskManager on stereoids (as Daniel alsways says  )
So in Process Explorer also look for a vstscannermaster process if it is there and lingering on or does it go away after some time?

Dear. Daniel~
I got a hint from your writing regarding the Plug-in file path on the Mac, and I tried it as below, and the problem was solved.

Step1. In the path below
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Steinberg

Step 2. Copy the two folders below
Groove Agent SE.vst3
HaLion Sonic.vst3

Step2. I have pasted it into the path below.
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Dorico5\VSTAudioEngine\VST3

then
Problem solved with message that Iconica Sketch Sound Content is available!!!

Now I’m working on it listening to the sound of the sheet music. ^^
Thank you. You are my savior.

I wonder if this is the right solution, but it feels good to solve the problem anyway. ^^

That is a nice hack but not recommended, because on program updates in the future the installer might get confused and not update everything correctly.
I would revert that change, because it just calls for trouble in the future.
