No sound with Dorico 5 playback on iOS 12.7.6

I can’t seem to get Dorico 5 to play sounds in my file that has flute oboe and bassoons. It looks to me like the HALion sound files are in the correct place, but it still doesn’t work. I created a piano file from the template, and that played properly.

I’ve attached the diagnostic .zip file so hopefully that’s helpful.

Welcome to the forum @sgcrawford .

From the diagnostics it is not clear to me, why the one project makes sound and not the other.
Can you please send me that non-sounding project to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
And if you do from the menu Play > Playback Template and reapply the default template, does that still make no sound?

I found the window in the screenshot below, and clicked on the menu in the upper left that says Oboe 1, and found sound files that work. I had to set the filter to “HALion Sonic SE” to find the instruments that worked. The instruments that were selected by default were from the “HALion Sonic” list. They didn’t produce any sound, and that red symbol I’m pointing at in the first screen shot was present, which apparently means the sample is missing.

This particular issue seems solved for now. Huzzah!

Is there a way to make sure instruments are used from the “HALion Sonic SE” list by default when I create a new file?

Perhaps there’s a tutorial I should run or a section of the user manual I can read?

For these kinds of playback issues, a good first troubleshooting step is to go to Play > Playback Template, re-select the playback template, and click Apply and Close. This will then reset everything, including the settings inside HALion Sonic.

Or is it this known issue with you?

I’ve never installed Cubase on this machine.
