Not all instruments are visible – and the sound of a horrible drone

In Setup Mode I try to change instruments, but only see there ‘Accordion’, and not’ Latin Accordion 1’ for instance. I suppose I do not see the instruments from HALion Sonic Selection.
In Preferences, in the default template I choosed ‘Iconica Sketch, HSO, HALion Sonic Selection, Olympus, GASE’. So I supposed I should be able to choose instruments from HALion Sonic Selection too.
In the Operation Manuel I could not find a clear answer to this question, maybe I do not understand what to look for?

In Play Mode I see the instruments of all suppliers, and there I am able to choose the Latin Accordion 1. But when I then play the composition a horrible drone of a low tone is mixed in the result.

So my question is how to solve these two problems?
Thank you for your attention!

Walter.

The Instruments that you choose in Setup mode relate to “real-world” instruments – the name, transposition, range, and other characteristics on the page.

So there is only one “Accordion” to select in Setup mode.

The instruments in HALion relate to particular sound samples in audio.

This is always caused by the wrong expression map for the sample.

All you need to do is choose “Accordion” in Setup mode, and Dorico should automatically set up the expression map, VST plug-in, and sample instrument.

If you want to change the GM Accordion to Latin Accordion, then you can do that in HALion. The Expression Map should still be CC1 Dynamics.

Ah – I now understand!
Thank you very much - everything works splendid now!

Probably Walter you should recognize the solution to Ben… if I followed correctly…

Walter, what Alberto is trying to tell you, don’t tag your thankful reply as the Solution, instead tag the answer that helped you solve your problem as Solution. This would be the one from Ben, directly above your answer.
Reason: anybody searching the forum with a similar problem like the one you have had, will see the Solution displayed directly beneath the opening question. So it adds to the efficiency of this forum - and is also a polite way to say “thank you”
