Not wanting to hear drums through headphones when recording

I have my drumkit set up with microphones with Focusrite 18i20 audio interface. When recording, I am using the metronome/click within Cubase Pro 14, using Windows 11. However, I do not always want to hear each (sometimes all) parts of the drumkit through the headphones, but I do want to be able to hear the metronome/click within Cubase when recording. How do I mute or stop the sound coming through the headphones of each (sometimes all) parts of the drumkit, as I can normally hear what I’m playing on the drumkit without having to listen via the headphones, but at the same time still being able to hear the metronome within Cubase?

I mute the tracks in the main window, but this just stops me hearing what I’ve recorded when I play the song back. Thanks!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Are you talking about Audio Tracks? If this is the case, disable the Monitor button on the tracks, you don’t want to hear through Cubase while recording.

Thanks so much for the response Martin!!Yes, this refers to audio tracks. I don’t think the monitor buttons for each track are enabled anyway when I’m recording, though I will check this, but feel free to mention any other possibilities !Thanks again

Use the Control Room and the Cue features.

If record monitor for the tracks is not on and you still hear them in the phones then you must be direct monitoring them with your interface. You would control that with the interface software.
