I’m currently still on Dorico 5. I’m notating a part in traditional notation and guitar tablature, and want to indicate that a triad be held for three bars, but have the pitch slowly dipped and returned by one semitone over the duration. Usually when this is notated, you’ll see the resulting pitches in the traditional notation, but the tablature won’t show fret numbers…you’ll just see the line indicating a dip with a number indicating how far to manipulate the pitch.
Getting it to work with a single note is pretty straight forward, but the manual indicates that the process should be about the same with chords. However, when I try the same process (notate resulting pitches in traditional notation, highlight notes, select the whammy bar ornament) only one of the notes disappears from the tablature notation. Is there a way to either ensure that the other notes of the chord are included in the whammy bar indication or simply hide those specific fret indicators?
In a previous thread, I was told about a hack where I’d basically make a separate part for the tablature so I could notate things independently. I could probably get it to do what I want doing it that way, but I’m trying to avoid having to that if possible.
Edit: I’ve found the “Hide Notehead” in the properties panel in Engraving mode which seems to hide the tablature numbers, however I want to make sure there isn’t a more elegant solution with getting the whammy bar dips to work as intended from go. I’m totally fine with this workaround, but don’t want to resort to that if it turns out I’m just doing it wrong.
