Notation Express for Dorico 5 released

Hi Ria, and welcome to the forum! I’m pretty sure they do not have that, but now there is a better way than having to memorize all those large menus (see link):

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply. I was actually asking about the Notation Express Streamdeck profile for Dorico. Looking to purchase it, but I already have a Metagrid running alongside Dorico. I wanted to see the commands and pages included in the Notation Express profile before I buy. Thanks!

I’m 10 days in Dorico and have finished a string quartet arrangement using it. So far so good… a lot of the Popovers that I use frequently, I made my own Macros for them, triggered by Metagrid.

If you have Metagrid then I’ll presume you’re on iPad and will likely want the “XL” version:

There are hundreds of commands, but here is the folder structure for Notation Express XL for Dorico, each of which may contain up to 31 buttons each (plus the requisite “folder up” button):

  • Home screen
    • Clefs and Octaves
    • Notes
      • More notes
    • Articulations
    • Dynamics
    • View, Modes, Options
    • Bars, Barlines, Brackets, Repeats
      • Repeat Structures
    • Noteheads & Harmonics
    • Techniques & Divisi
    • Text
      • Characters & Diacritics
    • Beaming and Tremolos
    • Lines & Ornaments
    • Filters
      • Breaks
      • Dynamics
      • Lyrics
      • Notes and Chords
      • Others
      • Voices
      • Tempos
    • Modify and Arrange
    • Formatting
    • Playback and Navigation
    • Key signatures
    • Time signatures
    • Voices and Insert
    • Keypad & Keyboard (separate Mac and Windows versions)

If you go here and click on “New in the XL version — 50+ new buttons!” you can see what was added just in the Dorico 5 update alone:

You can add your own shortcuts and buttons to your Notation Express profile; because Notation Express calls the commands via a direct connection to Dorico, and not via keyboard shortcut, you can feel free to use your own shortcuts and they won’t conflict.

Keep in mind you do need to purchase the “Pro” version of the Stream Deck Mobile app from Elgato, either via subscription or lifetime license, if you haven’t done so already, in addition to purchasing the Notation Express profile.
