It avoids them, at the contrary. It’s a known workaround to break multimesure rests at specific points.

I just found another workaround for Section Players. It’s the same thing as what you said but using a Divisi staff.
Support for roman numeral measure numbers as in, “Alright, chaps. Let’s take it at the IIXth bar before rehearsal XVII”.
Maybe this is why there were no great Roman bands. Except the orchestra that did Ben Hur. They were pretty good.

/OT - I swear this is the law of all my clients. I have joked about the most proposterous and seemingly impossible requests which have ultimately come true as a request made the next day in earnest – so now I try not to jinx myself with such jokery

Agreed! Lute tab is the only reason I ever have to go back to Finale. Would LOVE to see that implemented sometime soon.
You can already create a lute instrument with custom tunings and notate it using tab…I recently composed a large scale work which included a lute and although I didn’t use tab to notate the part, I did find it useful when I was experimenting with chord voicings, and I was impressed with the implementation which has been in Dorico for several years. What is missing for you?
My Renaissance notation font has letters in place of the standard numbers, so you can use it for lute tab to get letters on the fretboard.
My wishlist:
- capability of adding footnotes on notes, bars, staffs, systems, pages, that remain attached to the object to which they are attached initially, even if the page is changing because of Engrave layout changes, or modifications of the musical contents before the footnote; with local and global properties (there is an interesting discussion about this feature here)
- user defined variables in the project info, like {@myvariable_1}
- add a property to notes and rest which describes the relative position in a bar, so that you can filter for example: “select all notes and rest that are at beat position 2.5 in their bar in the complete flow”.
- make polymeters with metric modulation possible in the score, for example the woodwinds play in 4/4, and the strings play in 12/8, a quarter in the woodwinds equals a dotted quarter in the strings, so that the bar lines coincide
- saving graphics that are added in a template (for example a company logo) in the template itself, so that when starting a new project based on that template the logo is actually there
This has been possible since version 1, using the famous Pickup Trick.
(But it would be nice to be able to do it natively, no tricks.)
Regarding text, I need the following feature:

Regarding system layout:
- The vertical spacing of staves and systems and any other manually arranged layout should be maintained even when inserting new pages or changing the order of pages.
Sync between page thumbnail and selected page in engraving mode:
- Selecting a page in the page thumbnail on the right should display the corresponding page in the main window.
- Changing a page in the main window should automatically select the corresponding page in the page thumbnail on the right.

I am aware of the trick, and I used something in that style for Tchaikovsky Piano concerto No. 1, but it is really not practical.
- Exporting the imported image files would be helpful!
- Copy and paste page layout, i.e. override the page template applied to certain pages with an existing page. Currently overriding is only possible from the template.
