since the last update for Dorico 5, I’ve been having the problem that Dorico sometimes switches to the input mode as shown in the picture without me wanting to. This is actually annoying and I would like to know why Dorico does this. Is it possibly a key that I press by mistake, or some other problem?
Normally, it is not that big of a problem to get out of this mode, but sometimes the display gets stuck (as seen in the picture) although I am back in ‘normal’ mode. This is not only annoying my inner Monk!
i’m quite sure there are bugs here and there. i sometimes get stuck on one note after editing it and can’t move to the next note using the arrow keys. this happens intermittently.
also, just wondering why Ctl D to exit note input? i would think hitting ESC key is more intuitive.
Not sure if this answer your question, but the manual say:
Activating/Deactivating the caret
When the caret is activated, you can input notes and notations at the caret position; for example, if you want to input a dynamic in the middle of a tie chain. When the caret is deactivated, you cannot input notes, instead you can select and edit items in the music area.
Procedure
In Write mode, activate the caret and start note input in any of the following ways:
Select an item and press Shift-N.
In the Notes toolbox, click Start Note Input [image].
Double-click a rhythmic position on a staff.
Deactivate the caret and stop note input in any of the following ways:
Press Shift-N, Return, or Esc.
If you have disabled mouse input, click any selectable item in the music area.
In the Notes toolbox, click Start Note Input [image].
