Note grouping in 6/2

My meter is 6/2. I have note grouping options set like this:

But if I enter half-tied-to-whole across the middle of the bar It always is converted to this:

In 6/2 meter it should look like this:

Yes, I can use force duration to get it right, but why is that necessary with the note grouping options I have set? Am I missing some setting? Does Dorico not know that 6/2 is a compound meter?

Indeed, Dorico does not consider 6/2 to be a compound meter: only time signatures with denominators shorter than a half note (minim) will be considered to be compound time.

Hi @rayates56, you can define your 6/2, in the popover, as [3+3]/2 so that Dorico will interpret it as two beats of three half each, producing so the half bar where you desire (and you don’t need to insert a half note tied to a whole note: just insert a dotted whole note and Dorico will display it as you wish, thanks to the customised time signature  ):

Thank you. That’s helpful.

Hmm. My music dictionary says that a compound meter is any in which the top number is divisible by three. Is this going on the to-do list?

Which one? I think it’s fair to say that 6/2 is more ambiguous in its rhythmic status than 6/4 or 6/8, particularly the earlier you go back. It’s also used in Early Music editions both as 4+2 and 3+3.

On the other hand I think it’s so easy just to write [3+3]/2 …
