So, I upgraded to Dorico 5 recently, and now when I select noteperformer, suddenly all the instruments sound waaay out of balance, with voices being ridiculously louder than the piano, etc.
I don’t know if there is a stage setting I have to select.
Oh, I noticed that the compressor in the main mixer is no longer loaded. Normally, in Dorico, I have to change the Compressor to Maximizer in the Output. There is also no Reverb slot in the mixer as well. I tried adding an FX channel and selecting REVerence, but it doesn’t seem to do much.
Am I doing something wrong?
I would suggest reapplying the default NotePerformer playback template. That will give you the default, recommended settings for NotePerformer, as specified by the team at Wallander Instruments.
I tried doing that, but the main issue is the Piano, it’s bass/left hand notes sound way softer, while the treble is overpowering.
Hello,
So I’m Trying to figure out how to change. the NotePerformer Piano settings. Since I updated to Dorico 5, I’ve seen that the Bass Notes or left hand notes are ridiculously softer than the Treble notes, which has never happened before. Anyone else experience this?
I’ve tried using the default playback template, etc. Someone suggested I use maximizer instead of compressor (which was already set in Dorico 2-4), and I was able to use it, but it didn’t really seem to do much. Is it just a bug/glitch in NotePerformer Samples?
Try going to Library > Playback Options, then choose the Dynamics page, and take a look at the option for Use polyphonic voice balancing. If this is activated, turn it off, then try playing back the project again. Does it sound any better to your ear now?
Sorry if this sounds off-topic but I’m wondering what pianos you are using in NP?
NP includes its own piano.
I didn’t even know such existed. It was the difference I needed.
Thanks i was aware of that but until recently thought it was the only option within NP
What had me intrigued was i had figured out(i think i have this right) that you can also assign the BBC SO piano and the CSS piano within NP
not sure if im getting that right but i was wondering if he was using something else for piano
Sorry didnt mean to divert the conversation here
