I’ve noticed that with all of my scores Dorico is very delayed when editing anything or moving around the score, even on very simple scores. This is in contrast to any other music notation software that I’ve used, where the input feels instantaneous.
I’ve showed this to a couple of peers who also use Dorico and they say they haven’t experienced such input lag. I have what I consider to be a very capable laptop so I’m not exactly sure where the problem stems from.
I’ve tried disabling playback, editing in galley mode, restarting, lowering my resolution, but can’t seem to fix it.
I’ve attached a recent diagnostic report and project file.
It looks like note input operations take around 150ms–200ms on your system in this project, which is a little slower than I would expect. Do you use a particularly high display resolution? Is the performance the same both when connected to a power source and when running only on battery power?
That’s a good point. My screen is 4k but turning down the resolution to 1440p or 1080p has reduced the input lag by a bit. After adjusting my power settings also for best performance, it has gotten a bit better but I still wouldn’t describe it as “light speed” necessarily. Does this new diagnostic show more expected performance?
