Novation Launchkey Mini 37 MK4 - QC Problem in Multitimbral Instruments like HALion

Dear Forum,

since my Native Komlete M32 got stuck forever in MIDI Mode, I have recently bought a Novation Launchkey 37 mini MK 4, because Steinberg told it is fully integrated via Midi-Remote in Cubase 14 Pro. I ran into several problems with it:

  1. I have no clue how to setup the midi ins an outs in Cubase Studio Settings. This my current setup.

2. What about the QC control handling in Multitimbral Instruments like HALion 7 or Sonic. Lets say I inserted in my project an instrument track, loaded with HALion Sonic 7 on slot 1. If I use the encoder to change them QCs in HALion, it responds fine and as expected. But if I add a simple Midi track, as slot 2 in HALion 7 Sonic, them QCs doesn’t respond no more. So its only possible to use the encoders on slot 1 - unfortunately not on slot 2,3 and so on. Does anyone has an idea why this happens? Did I miss something important out?

Thanks in advance for your time,

joshua

Hi,

  1. In the folder of the device, there is a manual describing how to set it up.

  2. It depends, what kind of Quick Controls is it (Track/VST/Focus)?

  • Track Quick Controls act per track, so you can set up up to 8 controls at every single track.
  • VST Quick Controls work per instrument. So the 8 QC you can see in the plug-in GUI are the 8 assigned controls.
  • Focus Quick Controls work per plug-in window. So the 8 controls, you can see in the plug-in header are valid.

Hi Martin,

thanks for your reply. Can you specify the folder you are talking about?
And yes, I do know this 3 QC types, but the only knowledge of them does not solve my problem. As far as I understand the Midi-Remote Script should handle the assignment by itself. For normal instrument Tracks it does. But in case of multitimbral instruments like HALion it doesn’t. It only routes the QC controls to the first slot of HALion. Since the second slot should be a Midi Track referring to the HALion instance of the Instrument track, it has no QCs available in it. Is that maybe a limitation that no one told me before i bought it?
